Good afternoon Dr. Selsky,

At the hats and hero's Galla, my mom asked if you would be my science group's mentor for our project, which is creating a cancer detector, similar to a diabetes test, to test the blood for cancer cells and we wanted you to be our specialist to let us see if this proposition was really possible to create, and how we could make it better. On behalf on my team, i was wondering if you were still interested in this opportunity to help us,  as we would greatly appreciate it.

I was not at the Hats and Heros event. Perhaps she spoke to my former partner, Dr. Hajjar. That said I would be happy to help you out. Best time to call is after 6 pm except for tonight.

Regards,

Dr. Cliff Selsky

Good afternoon Dr. Selsky,

I was wondering if you could look over our current ideas and see if what we came up with was a possible invention or not. With that said, any input on how we can improve the invention to make it more plausible would be much appreciated. Feel free to look over the page at your leisure. Thank you so much.

Good afternoon Dr. Selsky,

I was wondering if you had any recommendations for our cancer project?

Hi Jana,

Sorry it took a while to get back to you. I think that the concept is good but  not specific enough. Different tumors have different protein signatures.  I  do not know of any nonspecific markers that could be targeted but that is something to consider. In other words you would look for a general indirect marker that would indicate malignancy. Of course nothing is all or none so false positive and false negative values would need to be investigated.

Dear Dr. Selsky,

Im sorry for the delay. In the earlier email, you specified how different types of cancer had different markers so I was wondering what the specific marker is in say breast cancer and how that is found in the blood? Thank you

Jana,

I point you to Pub Med to get that kind of information or you could just google biomarkers of breast cancer.

Good afternoon dr Selsky,

I was wondering what quantity of blood would need to be drawn for this test and are there any similar tests that are in use today, other than a diabetes test, that we could use as a model?

Dear Dr. Selsky,

I was wondering when would be the best time for you to look over our project? We are finishing it up this weekend and would love some feedback on how we can make the idea and model better before submission date.

It is due in about a week but we were hoping to finish it up before that.
